1989 Hayling Charity Cycle Ride

Funds raised: £11,000

Number of riders: 70

Many of the ingredients for a successful Ride were now established and cyclists joined from all over the country. The Support Team were now equipped with radios so that when they all turned up at the same bar it was by design rather than accident.

Ride stalwarts such as Rick Hutchings, Pete Alloway, Paul Mumford ('Mumfy'), Kev Crocker and Rod Elliott had by now all made their debut on the Ride. As indeed had "Mad Fred" Dyer. These and few others were the backbone of the Ride over the next two decades and key to it success.
